For high-end appearance components, visible machining tool marks are sometimes not acceptable. In this ULTEM (PEI) machining project, the customer required a clean and uniform matte surface while maintaining the dimensional accuracy of the CNC machined part.
After precision CNC machining, the parts were finished with a 100# sandblasting process. The fine blasting media effectively reduced the visibility of machining marks and created a consistent, low-gloss texture without affecting the critical dimensions or the excellent mechanical properties of ULTEM material.
Compared with the original machined surface, the sandblasted finish provides a more refined appearance, making it suitable for exposed components used in medical devices, laboratory equipment, robotics, and high-end industrial products.
At MachiningCNCPart, we offer a range of surface finishing solutions, including sandblasting, polishing, anodizing, and passivation, helping customers achieve both functional and aesthetic requirements for custom CNC machined parts.
