How RYH Controls Color Consistency of Powder Coated Sheet Metal Enclosures

Jul 21,2026

Powder coating color consistency comparison for sheet metal parts

Recently, RYH completed a quality verification process for several powder coated sheet metal enclosures to ensure consistent appearance between different parts.

For visible sheet metal components, surface appearance is an important factor in final product quality. Even when the same powder coating color is applied, slight differences may occur due to material surface conditions, coating thickness, production batches, and lighting reflection.

As a precision sheet metal fabrication manufacturer, RYH focuses not only on forming and machining accuracy but also on appearance consistency after surface finishing.

In this evaluation, we selected three white powder coated sheet metal parts and measured their color values using a professional color measurement instrument based on the CIELAB color system.

The CIELAB system evaluates color through three parameters:

· L* represents brightness

· a* represents red and green variation

· b* represents yellow and blue variation

Based on the measured LAB values, we calculated the color difference (ΔE) between the samples.

For visible powder coated sheet metal parts, RYH normally targets a color difference within ΔE ≤ 2.0 under controlled production conditions.

This standard helps ensure that multiple sheet metal components maintain a consistent appearance when assembled into the final product.

At RYH, we provide complete custom sheet metal fabrication services, including laser cutting, precision bending, welding, surface finishing coordination, and final quality inspection. We work closely with our finishing partners to control the complete manufacturing process, from raw sheet metal to finished enclosures.

By combining manufacturing experience with careful quality control, RYH helps customers achieve both functional performance and high-quality appearance for industrial equipment, automation systems, coffee machines, and other precision products.
